Deoch Mass 6-12-2019

It is an honor to stand here, giving praise to Deoch once again.

May you embrace that which makes you an Aisling, the gift of Deoch and the Inspiration that you have fostered within yourself.

If there is a trait in common for all Aislings that stay in Temuair for an extended amount of time, that trait would be ‘unmitigated stubbornness’. As much as this land can provide a bounty when sewn with the proper seeds, it is also taxing on those that believe in its ability to thrive and grow.

It is easy to see the potential that Temuair offers its inhabitants, but it can be frustrating when that potential isn’t utilized in the way that we think it should be. This frustration drives many away from these lands in search of more fertile pastures. Often angry and disheartened; you cannot really blame them. It is not as if we don’t feel it too, we certainly do, but it is that stubbornness that keeps us here despite those feelings.

Yet, it is not only that obstinate nature keeping us here. What you’ll also find among older Aislings is the willingness to adapt to new circumstances and new faces. Old hearts living new lives; we’ve seen friends fade away and we’ve befriended new generations repeatedly; the always moving cycle of community. Not better nor worse, but always different.

But it matters little if you are a stubborn old soul like myself or someone who stepped into Temuair for the first time today. The way this community survives is not only the belief that things will get better tomorrow, but by helping to make it better. In that way, each next harvest will be a little sweeter than the last.

We must promote a community that encourages a new generation of stubborn Aislings that continue to strive see Temuair better than it currently is. Because once Temuair loses its ability to create those stubbornly dedicated to it, the harvests will dwindle down to dust.

We all share the same goal for tomorrow: a better Temuair. Be stubborn enough to demand better; from each other and from ourselves. It is in this way that we make a difference; fruit of Temuair is nourished by the life we put into this land.
